Weight: Golden Retriever females: 55 - 65 pounds. The males of the breed are larger, Golden Retriever males: 65 - 80 lbs.
Height: Golden Retrievers females are 20 - 22 inches tall; Golden retriever males are 22 - 24 inches tall.
Coat: Golden Retrievers have a flat or wavy coat with a good feathering on the chest, legs and underbelly. Golden Retrievers have a double coat; a dense, water-resistant undercoat, and a thick, straight or wavy outer coat.
Color: All variations or shades of golden or cream; from pale yellow to burning orange-gold. Red or mahogany are unacceptable colors.
Temperament: Golden Retrievers are responsive, alert, well-mannered, and very playful. They do very well with children and offer a high tolerance of them.
With Children: Golden Retriever are exceptional with children. As with all dogs the Golden Retriever should be properly supervised around very small children.
